Hip Joint Stretches Series – Video 1
The first of a short stretching series by Ali, In this video Ali looks at a Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs) stretch.
First we need to understand the evolutionary prospective of health
- What were we naturally selected to do
- What are we doing
- On a daily basis how do you compensate for not doing what you were selected to do
Strength training in the gym, passive and static stretching is not always the answer
Range of motion can be one of the biggest limiters
Capacity and demand
It is very simple, if demand is higher than capacity, injury will occur. So to improve capacity you improve what your body can handle thus lowering the risk of injury.
It is not as simple as rolling on a foam roller and doing a hip flexor stretch.
Over the next few weeks I will be going over ways to improve mobility and capacity of the hip joints.
We will be going over:
- Internal rotation
- External rotation
- Flexion
- Extension
- Abduction
- Adduction
