Church Stretton Fitness Day 24th Feb

Note* Start time is 10am. Duration Approx. 3-4 hours.

Intent: This day is intended to shake out the legs from training and build your leg strength capacity for the Fan Dance, Sabre 23 etc. This can be used as part of your training programming, or to be used to familiarise yourself with moving over the ground at a good quality (slow to moderate) pace. The day will be at a comfortable level so should be suitable for people who currently are on RTG’s or have a basic level of fitness upto walk running for 10 miles. Completed training so far that allows them to move over the hills at an easy to moderate pace (walking and running) for approximately 3 hours. The day will be relaxed. Some people on this day will be carrying 50-70lbs so for someone carrying a lot less this can be made an easy day just covering the mileage.

Expectations: You should be able and comfortable to be able to run for a period of 1 hour to participate in this day, or be able to run walk at least for 3 hours, this day is for people wanting to better understand how to do cover hills with hills/elevation. We will be stopping and starting and re orging so we can play catch up and talk through the fundamentals.

Fitness Level: Can be used for basic to advanced. Anyone wanting to push themselves harder could take a weight of up to 50lbs. but for most 10-35lbs is very suitable. Speak with Nick.

Joining instructions: These are the joining instructions although a WhatsApp group will be set up a day or so before, if you are not a member then please contact Nick on 07855468103 via WhatsApp so he can add you.  You will need the following equipment: A small day sack with water proof jacket, hat and gloves for running in, warm top (lifesaver) hat and gloves spare, food on the go such as bars, water and small medical kit that has bandage Ibrofen and Paracetamol. Head torch, map and compass of the area if possible not essential, phone. Equipment worn can be fell / trail trainers or boots and trousers.

This location is a paid car park unless you have a National Trust card then its free, just scan your card. Park toward the bottom of the road as you enter the Valley.
