Intent: If you are training for the military, the Fan Dance, Test Week March series with AEE, Paras 10 or any other event- then this weekend is for you. If you just want a taste of the SF training experience, then this is a great opportunity to get out and test yourself on a multi disciplined weekend that replicates the old 23 SAS selection weekend, yet…. you can pick and chose your participation in each phase of the Weekend to allow you to use it as part of your training program.

This weekend is designed to enable a person to live out of a Bergen or ruck sac for a weekend yet you will have access to your car which will be located central to all activities, for kit, food, clothing and warmth. It is designed to tire yourself on day one and yet administer yourself while fatigued and recovering and squaring your admin away, an option part of the weekend will be a night navigation for a few hours which is more designed to get people used to working the ground at night, where underfoot conditions have a compounding effect on fatigue, concentration, navigation and orientation. It works the bodies balancing muscles more and relies on different capabilities than in the day. The second day is either a boot run, force DS led march or something a little different. All these are optional and can be at a reduced level and so it’s up to the individual how hard they work on each day. Rest time is your time.

Expectations: Too many people don’t sign up for these weekends because they think it’s going to be too hard.  Its NOT or doesn’t have to be, these days are provided to encourage people to get out into the open air, in the hills, to start to help them to become healthier and you can bound in and out or all the sessions that are on offer, which will be as follows:

Days navigation training over the hills

Boot run (optional)

Night Micro Nav (Optional)

Speed march Weighted (Optional)

All weights are flexible depending on what you want to do and how you feel as well as not participating

These are great days, very chilled and designed to help, motivate you and increase your confidence in the hills and in the elements as well as understand how to sort your admin out. Nick runs through putting up Basha, feeding yourself, and living out of a Bergen or Rucksack. This might help you with fitness or even taking your kids out on hikes in the future. Its all good.

You will be shown how to administer yourself over this time, what kit might work better, packing of kit, preparation for rest, such as putting up a hammock and Basha, etc. Basic stuff which is all you need to survive in the harshest of conditions. This is the kit we always carry no matter if on Expedition with Trident Adventure or in the Brecon Beacons doing a fitness day.

You will need to bring your own food and water for 2 days. Cooking apparatus such as a Jet boil. Head torch, sleeping kit, such as a tent or hammock (to help you administer yourself and keep out of the element), bivvi bag with sleeping bag in it to sleep on the floor, roll mat and a large water proof canopy that has para cord attached to 6-8 points. Sleeping in wooded area. Full kit list will be provided the week before and help needed in any purchases.

Fitness Level: If you are not experienced please do not get put off, we have support staff that are there to facilitate supporting all our levels and we do that well. Come along, thats how you start your journey to be stronger in the hills or just in light undulation movement across the ground. All our days are based on a very manageable distance in the time given and is fully designed for a basic level of fitness. All we ask is that you can walk and sometimes jog lightly for a duration of 4 hours without weight before you attend the day.
Any questions then please just ask.
