Description:

March/TAB – Mixed Terrain
Approxiamtely 16km and 400m ascent. Weight carried will be appropriate to each individuals current fitness level and experience.
Intent: An extended fitness training session, introducing this kind of load-bearing endurance training to beginners whilst offering the more experienced the opportunity to work on pace with heavier weight.
A steady march with some light running. Typically: marching the uphill sections, running the downhill sections and mix of both on the flat.
Expectations:
– Please make sure you read the kit list and act accordingly, if you don’t have all the kit then speak to the instructor the week prior to the event.
– You must inform the intructor a minimum of 48hrs prior to the event of any medical conditons or injuries.

Fitness Level : 

Beginner to Advanced (For beginners it is recommended that you are able to run at least 5km or 8km with breaks, and are able to walk for approximately 4hrs at a brisk pace.)

Basic Kit List:

On-person
– Short Sleeve/Long Sleeve Base layer or Tech T-Shirt (No Cotton)
– Trekking/Hiking trousers
– Sports underwear and socks (No Cotton)
– Walking/Hiking Boots
(Trail running shoes acceptable if carrying under 15lb – contact Instructor prior to the event.)
– Hat (Weather appropriate)
– Fully Charged Mobile phone
– Headtorch (Night training/Nav exercises)
– Map & Compass ( Nav exercises ) (Insure your map is in a waterproof map case)
– Bergen (Rucksack approx 40l + ) or Daysack ( backpack approx 20l +)
Inside Bergen (Rucksack)/Daysack (Essential)
– Waterproof Liner or Canoe sack
– Waterproof Jacket
– Warm Jacket ( Down/Insulated) Lifesaver for emergencies
– Lightweight Fleece (optional)
– Spare Base Layer/ Tech T-shirt
– Spare socks
– Warm Hat ( In pocket of warm jacket )
– Gloves ( In pocket of warm jacket )
– On the move food
– Water ( min 2 litres, separate containers)
– Sunscreen
– Headtorch
– Spare batteries
– powerbank ( for phone)
– Sunglasses (optional)
– Basic First Aid Kit ( to include, zinc oxide or physio tape, blister treatment, bandage, ibruprofen or paracetamol )
– Tissues & Anti-bac Gel

– Windproof outer layer
– Gortex Bivvy Bag
– Sleeping Bag (Ideally already inside the gortex bivvy bag)
– Spare Clothes ( in separate dry bag )
– Poncho (Tarp) & Bungees/Para Cord
– Jet Boil ( Small Gas Stove)
– Spare Gas
– Brew Kit
– MRE Meal
– Racing Spoon
– Penknife
– Cyalumes ( Light sticks – Night training/Nav)
– Waterproof trousers
